A couple of months ago I got a call from Don Schanzenbach from Old Virginia Woodworking. Don does many things including: making custom cabinets, furniture stripping, refinishing, and restoring antique furniture. Don was in the need of some replacement chair spindles. I was able to make replacements that matched the original. Below you can see the original on the left and the copies

Subsequently Don needed some split turnings. Split turnings are decorative items that many antiques have to add extra bling to a piece.

Don also needed another set of split turnings.

I was able to visit Don and his shop and saw these pieces in the completed refinishing project.

It was a privilege to see Don’s shop and some of his beautiful restorations. If you have need of his restoration or custom cabinets see his website for more information.
